Music about the U.S.C.T.

The participation of African-Americans in the Union military inspired the creation of songs. Some of these were supportive of the Colored Troop effort and were used in recruitment. Others, however, were written as minstrel songs, mocking their fight for freedom.

Songsheets and sheet music about and for the United States Colored Troops, taken from the Rubenstein's American Song Sheets and Historic American Sheet Music collections.
