Women and Labor Movements
About Our Team
Sadia Ayaz is a rising junior who is majoring in political science. She is super excited to be studying abroad in Prague in the fall. She has an interest in women and finance—how women interact with money in compared to men and women on wall street. She has an interest in photography, so she had a great time taking and editing photos for the Instagram feed. She also loved eating rosewater ice cream at the Parlour.
Gia Cummings is a rising sophomore interested in majoring in Public Policy. She has a strong interests in women and their rights over time, particularly reproductive rights and women of color. She has loved learning about women's everyday victories and their fight to make life better for themselves. In the future, she hopes to apply both her research skills and content knowledge to an independent study project. She will thoroughly miss days of website building accompanied by the World Cup, and is eternally grateful to Story+ for her trip to see a movie on RBG, with whom she is now obsessed.
Elaine Zhong is a rising senior majoring in History and Economics with a minor in French. She has always been interested in the history of women and sexuality and has enjoyed this Story+ opportunity that allowed her to conduct in-depth archival research in the Rubenstein, meet the incredibly fun and insightful rest of her team and eat rosewater flavored ice cream at the Parlour.
Claire Antone Payton recently received her Ph.D. from Duke's History Department, where she studies the modern Caribbean. She also worked last year as an intern at Hartman Center for the History of Sales, Advertising and Marketing at the Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Working with Story+ as a student mentor has been a wonderful opportunity to train students in historical research methods while participating in regular discussion about the history and future of women in the workplace. In the fall, she will be joining the Woodson Institute at UVA as a postdoctoral research fellow.
