The Library Uncovered: Behind the Scenes with Collections Services

Collection Strategy & Development

Collection Strategy and Development sets the overarching strategy for building and maintaining the collection. We manage budgets, analyze data, coordinate with other libraries, and plan for the future to ensure we continue to have a world class library collection here at Duke and a healthy scholarly information ecosystem.

One of the less obvious aspects of our work is featured in the exhibit, coordination of book scanning for inclusion in Internet Archive and HathiTrust Digital Library. Two Duke University Press titles are on display to illustrate this, Black Utopias: Speculative Life and the Music of Other Worlds by Jayna Brown and Volume 3 of The Frank C. Brown Collection of North Carolina Folklore.
