Jessie R. MacGibbon was a member of the Guild of Women Binders. She worked this binding in natural undressed goatskin, depicting a unique image—her self-portrait. She is framed within the structure of her book press, needle in hand, sewing the gatherings of her book. Her initials are arranged in the top frame; below she states her profession, “Binder.”
