Bea Nettles is a book artist and photographer whose work addresses issues of family relationships, the body, and the ways in which personal identities reflect political and social realities. She will give a lecture with book signing and reception to follow.

Panel discussion about making a career out of a love of book arts, featuring Laurie Corral, founder of Asheville Bookworks, Dave Wofford of Horse and Buggy Press, and Meg Brown, Duke conservation librarian and exhibits coordinator. Moderated by Beth Doyle, Duke conservation librarian. Refreshments at 9:30am with program beginning at 10am. Sponsored by PAC.

Mastering Craft: Interpreting Historic Bookbindings

Conservation Lab Gallery, outside Perkins 023 (near The Link on Lower Level 1 of Perkins Library)

This exhibit highlights work from the Triangle Research Libraries (TRLN) Master Bookbinders Group, which consists of staff members from the conservation labs of UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State and Duke University libraries. This group researches historic bookbindings to deepen understanding of the history of the book, and develop knowledge and skills that help inform their daily conservation work.
