Thomas J. Burrell is a Chicago-based advertising executive. Born in Chicago in 1939, Burrell received a BA in English from Roosevelt University before going to work as a copywriter and copy supervisor at a number of prominent Chicago ad agencies, including Wade Advertising, Leo Burnett, Foote Cone Belding, and Needham Harper Steers. In 1971, Burrell co-founded the Burrell McBain agency with Emmett McBain. The agency was renamed Burrell Communications in 1974 and merged with the Publicis Groupe in 2000. Burrell received the Albert Lasker Lifetime Achievement Award in 1986 and was inducted into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame in 2005.
