John Hope Franklin: Imprint of an American Scholar
The Global Scholar
Given his humble beginnings in Rentiesville, John Hope Franklin likely never envisioned that he would travel the world teaching history. His travel was sponsored by a number of institutions including the US Department of State, Salzburg Seminar of American Studies, and the Fullbright Board of Foreign Scholarship and his presence made him one of the most influential scholars responsible for sharing the history of the United States and African Americans around the globe.
