This report was prepared for the New England Life Insurance Company by the BBDO Special Markets Division in January 1965. BBDO's Special Markets division, directed by Senior Vice President Douglas Alligood, oversaw media production and consumption in the African-American, Hispanic, Asian and senior markets. This report includes statistical and demographic information about the African American population in terms of education, employment, and consumer behavior in order to evaluate socioeconomic growth and the the newfound viability of the African American life insurance market. The report exists as a typescript reproduction and was acquired as part of the John Hope Franklin Collection of African and African-American Documentation and the Hartman Center.
